Commodities

Used cooking oil and waste biofuel feedstock.

A residue stream with a compliance value attached. Handled correctly, it moves reliably from collection in origin markets into European renewable fuel production.

Trading capability

How we execute this book.

Indicative shipment size
Typically 500–2,000 MT per shipment; larger volumes on a contract basis.
Payment terms
Escrow / secured structures, arranged per transaction — see Counterparty Information.
Inspection
Independent inspection, e.g. SGS / Intertek, as agreed at load or discharge.
Logistics & Incoterms
FOB or CIF as applicable, flexitank, ISO tank or bulk parcel.
Documentation
Specification, sustainability documentation, inspection certificate and shipping set agreed before contracting.

Description & properties

Material
Used cooking oil and animal fats, classified Category 1, 2 or 3 under the EU Animal By-Products Regulation.
Categories
The category distinction determines permitted downstream use: Category 3 material is eligible for feed, oleochemical, cosmetic and biofuel outlets, while Categories 1 and 2 are more narrowly restricted.
Traded parameters
Free fatty acid content, moisture, impurities and unsaponifiable matter, agreed with sampling and inspection at load or discharge.
Certification
ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification) supports the sustainability documentation European refiners require for waste-based feedstock.

Applications

Biodiesel

FAME production from waste-based feedstock.

HVO

Hydrotreated vegetable oil for renewable diesel pools.

SAF

Sustainable aviation fuel, the fastest-growing demand pull.

Oleochemicals

Category 3 material also serves feed, oleochemical and cosmetic uses.

Sourcing regions

Brazil into ARA

Brazil is a major real supply origin for used cooking oil. The Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp hub is the natural landing point: it holds the deepest tank and blending infrastructure in Europe and is home to major HVO and SAF refiners, with adjacent demand in Germany, the Nordics and the United Kingdom.

Market context

Where the value sits today

Pricing is closely tied to European biofuel feedstock markets, which we track continuously. Trade policy and mandate settings shift the relative attractiveness of destination markets over time; we price each cargo against the market as it stands at the point of contracting.
